Description
This beautiful Howarth S5 professional oboe was manufactured in 1989 and has been very carefully serviced and maintained with new pads and corks.
It is in stunning condition and was serviced earlier this year.
The grenadilla wood is crack free and the silver plating is almost as new. The oboe has the full Gillet conservatoire professional keywork including: 3rd octave key, all trill keys, left hand F and E flat keys, forked F vent, banana key, and spit D ring.
The intonation and response are very accurate and consistent throughout the range. It is a free-blowing instrument with plenty of flexibility for the player to find their own tonal personality; the sound is rich and lively. It comes with a case and cover, both in very good condition.
The S5 is a light instrument — 690 grams — about the same weight as a Marigaux 901. It would suit an advanced student or amateur player and represents excellent value for money.
