Dear Double Reeders,
We were disappointed to have to postpone our St John’s concert as we didnot have enough players to make a good show. Of course, if there are only a small number of players there will also be a small audience and the whole thing becomes unviable. It seems that there were a few other performances that afternoon which many of you were involved in.
The Performance Practice afternoon on 27 th July showed that a lot of dedicated hard work is being done. The players who performed were given valuable feedback on their performances and most enjoyed the experience of having an accomplished pianist to play with.
We have decided on several more events for you this year. Please look in your diaries and checkthat you can attend. Don’t leave it until the last minute while waiting for that job in the BerlinPhilharmonic to come up. It’s quite difficult to organise things if we are not sure how many we are expecting.

Wednesday 15 th October 7pm-9pm Performance Practice.
We have tentatively labelled this Performance Practice but it could incorporate other activities andthey don’t have to be solo performances. We are specifically aiming at younger players this time, so Teachers please encourage your younger students to participate. There will be a fee of $10 and we shall supply a pianist and some gentle feedback. Get up a group! Make somesuggestions!
Thursday 18 th December and Sunday 21 st December
We have decided to replicate the format of our Carols concerts to do what we did last year. The Residents of Pineview were thrilled with the Carols event we presented and have invited us to do it again. The date for that will be 18th December in the early evening. This will be followed by Carols on Ninth Avenue on 21st December. Stay tuned for more details.
